“The real meaning of cinema lies in the realm of dreams.” — Siegfried Kracauer
I often tell my team: as creators, we should not live too realistically. The purpose of reality is to allow us to better perceive the dimension of the dream.
Life is short, and cinema is the most powerful tool humanity possesses to extend its duration. We create dreams to offer those who laboriously traverse reality a harbor in which to rest, or even the comfort and courage necessary to counter mediocrity.
But what would happen if we could make this dream tangible, within arm’s reach?
This is the ambition of VR cinema. It is no longer about “watching the fire from the other shore,” but about creating a safe, stable, and protected ancillary space. Here, the viewer can proceed by trial and error, explore, and—through virtual interaction—seek new possibilities to resolve the dilemmas of reality.
It all begins with the parallax of our eyes. This tiny physiological offset revealed the secret of stereoscopic vision and launched the evolution of our senses.
Today, using the tricks of light and shadow, we seek to tear down the boundary between illusion and reality. When the dream no longer fades upon waking, cinema will finally become a force capable of penetrating the real.
Therefore, we want to ask you a question: if you had the opportunity to create your own personal dream, what would you want it to look like?
